As
a Friend of Ardtornish, we thought you might like to hear from
us a little more often than once a year and have put together
this newsletter to let you know about everything that is going
on here.

please contact us if you have yet to confirm for 2008. |

to be at your accommodation for your arrival. By contacting you
before your arrival we can also ensure that you have the linen you
require as well as bikes, TV/DVD player and any other services that
we can offer to make your stay more enjoyable. |

In
arrangement with ‘Lochaline Boat Charters’ we will be

some longer day voyages. |
|
| SUGGESTIONS |
|
We
look forward to receiving any suggestions that you, as a Friend
of Ardtornish, may have regarding the property that you are visiting.
We're sure there are things about your accommodation that we could
make better. We're not promising that all suggestions will be acted
on, but we will definitely try. |
|
| THE
BUNGALOW |
The
corrugated metal house by the estate yard is almost finished. Part
of it will be used as accommodation for seasonal workers and part
as a bunkhouse for letting by the bed/day. It is ideal for those
weekend walking, sea fishing and scuba diving parties who don’t
want to rent an entire property by the week. |
|
| WINTER
WORK IN PROGRESS |
Includes
the new disabled friendly bathroom in The Garden Flat. In Castle
Cottage, the bathroom floor is being replaced, the kitchen sink
is also being renewed and the kitchen floor covering has already
been replaced. The Boat House kitchen is being tiled (not white!)
and a new hob and oven are being installed. |
|
| A
NOTE FROM HUGH RAVEN |
Around
a year ago Allan Davidson, who works at Ardtornish, entirely on
his own initiative, completed construction of a bird hide in a magical,
strategic spot at the head of Loch Aline. Across the river Aline
estuary from Castle Cottage, it's a wonderful success. Over the
festive period, during a few lazy days with friends, we spent time
there and saw just how well-placed it is. |
We
saw otters (an adult and kit), curlews, greenshank, redshank, and
oystercatcher, goldeneye, mallard and widgeon, a dabchick, and herons
aplenty. On the river Rannoch estuary, after birdwatching here for
nearly 40 years, we saw our first kingfisher. It was a reminder
that the wildlife here is pretty much as good as it gets. |
Later
this winter we're renewing our website. In future we plan to update
it with the latest sightings. If it interests you, please do have
a look to see what you might expect to spot next time you're here
on holiday. |
|
| With
very best wishes for 2008 from us all at Ardtornish. |
