Magnificent walking country
This is magnificent walking country and as a keen walker and climber, our Visitor Manager, John Montgomery, would be delighted to recommend walks to suit all ages and levels of fitness. Call in to see John at our Visitor Centre.
Ardtornish is one of the most accessible and open private estates that there is. We would like visitors to the area to enjoy it as much as those of us who live and work here do and to care for the local environment and wildlife for our children and their children.
Access to the hills is normally completely unrestricted but you should remember certain points
1) During September and October (the red deer stalking season) access must be restricted for your own safety and to avoid disturbance of the deer. Please make sure that you contact the the Visitor Centre or other landowners before setting out.
2) For your own safety, you should always let someone know before you set out on a long walk. Call in at the Visitor Centre.
3) Purchase of an “Ordnance Survey” map is a good idea if you intend leaving the main tracks. Maps are for sale in the Visitor Centre.
4) Sensible footwear and waterproof clothing are essential if taking to the open countryside; food is also a good idea.
