STALKING FOR STAGS AND HINDS ON THE UNSPOILT 35,000 ACRE ARDTORNISH ESTATE ON THE REMOTE MORVERN PENINSULA.
We have stalking for red deer stags available on Ardtornish from mid August to 20th October. Potential tenants should note that, for trophy purposes, stags will not be hard-antlered until September. Ardtornish covers approximately 35,000 acres at the south of the Morvern peninsula in North Argyll. It is estimated there are 400 stags and 600 hinds on the property.
The estate provides the services of a stalker and a landrover and argocat for recovery. The estate will normally retain the carcasses. It is estate policy to cull stags in accordance with our deer management policy which seeks to maintain an optimum population of quality stags for sport. In a 5-day stalking week it would be reasonable to expect to kill four stags in September and five stags per week in October.
The preferred accommodation for stalking parties is the fully furnished 'South Wing' of Ardtornish House, which can sleep twelve, but other self-catering properties are also available. Lets are from Saturday to Saturday. Please refer to the Property Availability page for more information on alternative properties and prices of accommodation. Please note that it is not necessary to take accommodation with stalking.
Stalking Prices
Price on application.
If no stag is presented for shooting only a £100 per day out stalkers fee will be charged. It may be possible to shoot more than one stag per day by prior arrangement. Please specify what days you intend stalking if not taking the full five days - this allows us to let the days that you do not go out. Specified days must be adhered to.
Domestic and Catering
We operate self-catering properties. However, it is possible for us to arrange for catering and cleaning on request, given sufficient notice.
Trophies
Included in the price of the stag.
Hind Stalking
Hind stalking is usually available. Price on application. Hind stalking can only be booked in conjunction with accommodation in one of our holiday properties.
Venison
Tenants may retain the carcass at the current market value, but butchering must be arranged independently.
Fishing
Salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing is available. Salmon fishing costs £30 per day for two rods. Brown trout fishing is included in the rent.
Terms
Unless otherwise agreed, the week runs from Saturday to Saturday (please arrive after 4pm and leave by 10am). Bookings will only be confirmed on receipt of 50% of the full amount (stalking and property rent) as deposit. Should you cancel the deposit will only be returned if we manage to re-let the cancelled week. The balance is payable four weeks before the commencement of your visit.
Gratuities. The Estate feels that gratuities should not be regarded as a service charge, but should be given when deserved and we do not wish to make recommendations.
