Excellent river and loch fishing
Ardtornish has salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Aline, a typical west coast spate river set in beautiful surroundings. The five year averages for salmon and sea trout up to and including 2008 are 25 and 47 respectively. We are in the third year of a salmon stocking programme which is due to run until at least 2011, hopefully returning The Aline to its former glory – in 1992, 120 Salmon were caught on the river.
The Aline is divided into six beats, each taking two rods, and costs £30.00 per day for two rods from July to the end of the season in October, and £10.00 per day in May and June.
Our native wild brown trout fishing on the 16 hill lochs of Ardtornish has been very good over recent years in both the quantity and quality of fish caught. A new record brown trout at 16½ lbs was caught in Loch Arienas in 2006 trouncing the previous record fish of 7lbs caught in 1999.
Guests staying in one of our properties may fish all Lochs for free, paying only for boat and engine hire if required. For non-residents, fishing on Lochs Arienas and Noire dam Mart is £8.50 per rod per day and £5.00 on all other lochs. Boat hire on Loch Arienas is £30.00 per day (£45.00 with an engine) and £20.00 per day on Loch Tearnait.
All fishing must be booked in advance at our Visitor Centre. If you have any particular fishing questions please don’t hesitate to call our Gamekeeper, Simon Boult. Simon can be contacted on 01967 421229 or 07799 098150 or by emailing simon@ardtornish.co.uk. Please note the following:
