Hydro community payments

Ardtornish estate has agreed with Morvern Community Council, and Highland Council, an annual payment as Community Benefit for our new hydro scheme at Tearnait. It’s at the upper end of the scale, at £5,000 per year per Megawatt of installed capacity. That’s in line with the Forestry Commission and Scottish and Southern Energy payments, and above the level of most private developers.

The use of the funding will be decided by the community of Morvern, alongside other benefit payments received from the quarry at Glensanda, and the SSE-operated hydro plant at Kingairloch.
